The following information is provided to enable everyone, i.e. visitors and residents, to enjoy the weekend in Holmfirth and, more importantly, to allow us and others to enjoy it for years to come. There will be 2 wardens caravans on site, one of which will be open 24hrs a day, should you have any questions or need any help.

Parking

Once your car or campervan is parked, we hope there will be no reason to use it during the weekend. No vehicles are allowed on the football pitch. Last year saw a large number of campers making use of the facilities and we anticipate even more this year. To accommodate as many campers as possible on the field site you will be asked to park your vehicle on the premises of Bridge Mills Ltd (who have kindly allowed us to use their private car park) located at the bottom of New Road, which is a 2 minute walk away.

The car park will be locked at 9pm and will  re-open at 8am the following morning. The car park keys will be kept at the warden's caravan should an emergency arise and you need access to your car during these hours. Under no circumstances will Bridge Mills Ltd, Holme Valley Business Association or Holmfirth Festival of Folk be liable for any damage to or theft from your car whilst parked in the Bridge Mills Ltd car park. Please make sure your car is removed from the Bridge Mills Ltd car park by 7pm on Sunday 9th May.

Directions to the Car park

From the campsite, turn left onto Huddersfield Road and then right onto New Road. Bridge Mills is on your left. Go through the blue gates then take the right fork up the hill to the upper car park. Do not use the lower car park by the mill buildings - this is for mill employees only.

Water

The use of the water tap is by kind permission of the resident living across the river from the campsite. Cross the small bridge at the entrance to the car park and the water tap is on the left.

Showers

We have been able to secure a 1½ hour slot for the use of the Swimming Pool showers. The showers will be open from 5.30pm to 7pm on Saturday at no extra cost to you. The showers will not be available at any other time during the weekend so please make use of this facility.

Campfires

Campfires are strictly prohibited. Anyone who breaks this rule will be asked to leave the site immediately. Please remember that we want to be able to use the site for years to come. If you are using a disposable BBQ, please make sure it is not placed directly onto the grass as this leaves an unsightly black mark and do not put hot BBQ ashes in the bins.

Noise

Please respect the fact that some people will want to sleep, especially the nearby residents (one of which has kindly allowed us to use his water and electricity), and keep the site quiet between 11pm and 8am. Remember that sound carries a long way outdoors.

Leaving

The site closes at 8pm on Sunday. Please make sure you and your belongings are off the field by this time. Please leave the site clean and tidy and deposit all rubbish in the bins provided.

Holmfirth Festival of Folk wishes to acknowledge the assistance provided by Kirklees Metropolitan Council, Bridge Mills Ltd and the resident across the river.
